The Belly and Apples
The hero’s Belly empties as you walk. Empty, it costs one HP per turn and cuts off recovery. What fills it, what empties it more slowly, and what happens when you don’t eat.
In short
- 100 points at the start of each expedition, for the hero only: teammates don’t get hungry.
- One point every ten turns, whether you walk or wait.
- At 20, the hero complains; at zero, it loses one HP per turn and no longer recovers.
- An Apple restores 50 points, a Big Apple 100, the Golden Apple the whole Belly and all HP. Every berry feeds a little.
How it empties
The Belly loses one point every ten turns. A turn is one action of the hero: a step, an attack, an item used, a turn of waiting. Falling back somewhere quiet to recover HP is therefore paid in Belly: that is the price of patience. When playing together, each player has their own Belly.
When it is empty
At zero, the hero loses one HP every turn and no longer recovers naturally. You have to eat, fast: an Apple, a berry, anything that feeds. A starving hero in a corridor full of wild Pokémon is the end of the run.
What feeds
Apple: 50 points.
Big Apple: 100 points.
Golden Apple: the whole Belly, and all HP.- Every berry feeds a little on top of its effect.
Emptying it more slowly
The
Diet Belt, a held item, makes the Belly empty half as fast, for the whole team, as long as a member wears it. Only one copy counts.
For a ten-floor place, two Apples are plenty: the Belly lasts a hundred turns on its own, and every berry eaten tops it up a little. The rest of the bag is better spent on seeds and healing.
